When I Sing -- Primary Students Reveal the Power of Singing
Cedaroak Park Primary Music Specialist, Genevieve Stevens-Johnson, shared the following “When I Sing”
poem with MAP. Apparently, “During one of the breaks at the All-State Elementary Honor Choir, Susan
Brumfield, our guest director (she is amazing!), asked all the students to write down what singing meant
to them. She then read all of the comments that night and created a poem using direct quotes and
themes she saw from their words. A beautiful and powerful tribute was created, and I will be hanging it
on my classroom wall!”
